PREPARE / ENRICH - from Life Innovations, Inc.
Over one million couples have participated in either the PREPARE (for marriage preparation) or ENRICH (for marriage enrichment) program during the last twenty years.  Over 50,000 professional counselors (marital & family therapists, psychologists, social workers) and clergy of all denominations have been trained to use these programs throughout the United States.  Couples who participate in the programs first take one of five couple inventories, depending on their specific situation.  Couples then meet with a counselor to receive feedback based on the results from the inventory in 3-6 sessions. There are six goals for the feedback and six couple exercises designed to help couples improve their relationship. Training in these programs is open to professional counselors, members of the clergy, and lay ministers designated by their clergy to use these programs as part of their marriage-related ministries.  The full-day training workshop will train on how to properly use the PREPARE/ENRICH Program with couples.  Participants will learn how to administer and interpret the couple inventories and give feedback to couples using the six couple exercises.  The following materials are provided at the training:
PREPARE/ENRICH Counselor's Manual (130 pages)
Question Booklets and Answer Sheets for the five couple Inventories (PREPARE, PREPARE-MC, PREPARE-CC, ENRICH & MATE)

SMART MARRIAGES: July 2 - 5, 2008 in San Franscisco, CA (note: pre-conference and post-conference institutes take place immediately before and after the regular conference.)
If you can only go to one conference this year, this is the one to go to!  And don't let the location discourage you; it is well-worth traveling to.  This conference offers a new approach to marriage and families; marriage education as preventive maintenance in relationships.  Instead of relying solely upon traditional therapy to rescue struggling marriages and families - help that is often too little and too late - this model builds healthy families through educational programs.  Based on research that has identified what makes marriage work, this approach provides information and skills to help couples build and maintain smart, satisfying marriages and happy, healthy, successful families.  This conference gathers the experts who have translated the best clinical and research information into easy-to-teach courses.  Attendees can take in-depth training in optional Pre-& Post Conference Institutes (highly recommended!) and qualify to teach the courses or use the materials in their own practices.  In keynote sessions, workshops and seminars, participants learn how to apply the approach to the challenges of divorce, stepfamilies, parenting, fragile or never-married families, delinquency, domestic violence, and sexual dysfunction.  Opportunities are presented to prepare engaged couples and newlyweds, strengthen marriages and remarriages, train and recruit mentor couples, and work with even the most troubled couples.   This conference is well-suited for anybody who cares about developing successful marriages: Counselors, Clergy, Social Workers, Family Life Educators, Marriage Ministers, Therapists, Family Advocates.
Fees:  The registration fee for the Conference is $365 (early bird rate).  For more information on the optional Pre-& Post Conference Institutes cost and further information, visit www.SmartMarriages.com

In 2003, thirty people from Orange County attended this Conference.  Here are several that you can contact to get their reactions to the Conference (click on one of their names to send them an e-mail):  Pastor Jim Landrum, Author and Counselor Nancy Landrum, Dr.Jim Koval, PhD/MFT, and Dennis Stoica.

We are just NINE weeks away from the Smart Marriages Conference!  For additional information please visit www.CaMarriage.com
This is a great opportunity to take full advantage of this incredible event!  It will never be easier for Californians (and more importantly, the people you work with and serve in your marriage coalition) to experience the full impact of Smart Marriages which will be held this year in San Francisco.
